September 7, 2010 Guild Program

It is Appleseeds’ 17th birthday!  We will celebrate with birthday cake for all.  The evening also includes a “Bed Turning” featuring Lois Fegleys’ quilts.  Nancy Gipson, daughter of Lois will assist her in the stories about her quilts on the bed.  Lois was the featured quilter at the 2008 Berne Quilt Show and is guest speaker at the Maumee Valley 24th Annual Quilt Show, August 19-22, New Haven, IN. She was also a prize winner in the last Appleseed Quilters Show in 2008.

We will also have a slide show of the presentation of the 127 kid’s quilts at Camp Watcha-Wanna-Do.  When we’re able to see which child receives a quilt that we made, it is a really special feeling and makes the giving of these quilts so worth while.  Thanks to Dawn Shepherd and her committee for providing this heart warming part of our evening.

October 5, 2010 Guild Program

Nationally known speaker, Karen Kay Buckley will be here October 5th and 6th, 2010!  Her lecture at the guild meeting on October 5th is “To Border or Not to Border”. If you are a guest attending this meeting (not an Appleseed member) there will be a fee of $5 charged to attend this special program.

Kay will be teaching “Drafting Appliqué Patterns” on Tuesday, October 5, from 1 - 4 pm.  On Wednesday, October 6, from 9 am - 4 pm, she will be teaching “Kansas Rose Appliqué.” Sign ups for these two classes begin at the July Appleseed Quilters Guild meeting.

If you want to get into either one of these classes, don’t put it off! Her classes will fill up fast, and in September they will be open to the public. Karen Kay Buckley is a popular teacher and we’re privileged to have her speak at our guild meeting. Check out her website to see more information about the 2 classes she will be teaching for us: http://www.karenkaybuckley.com/index.php

November 2 Guild Program

Lynn Diamente will present a lecture titled “The Properties of Color for Your Quilts”.  Lynn is a member of Whitley County Country Quilters and Orchard Art Gallery.  She is a water color artist, teacher and designer of quilt patterns.  Our own Toni Kring won a ribbon with one of Lynn’s patterns in our recent quilt show.  Lynn’s rich use of color will be wonderful to see. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about color for your quilts.  Her web site is www.lynndiamente.com.

December 7 Guild Program

We are having a holiday party – a no stress evening of celebration with cookies and carols and show and tell of our many holiday quilts.
