2020 Appleseed Festival of Quilts

Schoolhouse Mini Class Line-Up

Friday 10:00-6:00 and Saturday 10:30 – 3:30


The Appleseed Schoolhouse is made up of a wide variety of 25 – 50 minute classes and demonstrations lead by talented, enthusiastic quilters and will be offered throughout the 2-Day event.  You will receive a hand out at each session and will have the opportunity to take notes and ask questions in this friendly, relaxed environment. Cost for a Schoolhouse wristband is only $15 (in addition to the quilt show registration fee) which allows you to attend unlimited classes!  To register for these classes please click here.


             Painting on Fabric

  • Painting on Fabric - Marcia Brindel and Ginny Hoot – learn secrets of how to use fabric paints to enhance your quilts through shading and other techniques.

  • Sensory Quilts Linda Mulpagano – see fun and interesting ways to create Touch Quilts that will soothe and comfort people with memory loss.


  • Mosaic Quilts Karen Somers – learn this “minimal sewing” technique to make beautiful wall hangings that can range from dramatic to whimsical.


  • Elegant, Eye-Catching Borders Cheryl Templeton – Add interesting borders to your quilt that look difficult to achieve, but aren’t. The Madeira technique, borrowed from heirloom sewing, translates fancy shapes such as oval, scallops, or almost any curvy line into the shape of your borders.


  • Paper Piecing Anne Tinkel – let Anne take the frustration out of paper piecing with her easy-to-understand approach. Anne can help you achieve precision in your piecing for simple to intricate patterns. 

             Pet Portraits

  • Pet Portraits in Fabric Jane Wells – Jane will show you a step-by-step method on how to get started making a quilted portrait of your beloved pet from a photo. She will have several finished examples on hand and will be available to advise and encourage you to do your own.


  • Perfectly Mitered Borders Jane Wells – learn the no fail method of matching the stripes and prints in your mitered borders every time.
